Ski Resort in French Alps
Perched up in the Dauphine Alps and surrounded by stunning high mountain
scenery, Vaujany has been home to farming families for generations and still
retains its rural atmosphere. The substantial income that the village receives
from Electricité de France, due to the construction of an unobtrusive hydro
electric power scheme lower down the valley, has enabled Vaujany to steadily
expand its facilities.
The services on offer are well beyond those you would expect from a small village and include a 160 person cable car that can transport you to 2,800 metres in just 15 minutes. After a day's skiing on world class runs you can relax in an authentic Alpine ambience without the commercial hype of most purpose built resorts.
Vaujany nestles on the south facing side of the valley and is dwarfed by the Massif des Grandes Rousses which takes its name from the spectacular show of colour projected by the setting sun on the high ridges. With the accompanying springtime sound of 'Cascade de la Fare', the location provides the perfect tonic for relaxation.
The hamlet of La Villette still exudes a bucolic way of life now lost in most Alpine resorts. You can step back centuries when taking the children to visit the neighbour's sheep and goats or exploring the old milking parlours with their vaulted ceilings draped with cobwebs. Visit our Ski Hotels in France.
The wooden balconies and hay lofts of the well weathered barns shadow the busy locals who may well be tending their gardens or animals as you leave for your day's skiing.
La Villete is just one kilometre beyond Vaujany at the halfway station of the
gondola. Our minibus shuttle service provides a link between the chalets and the
main lift station. Snow conditions permitting you can ski back to within walking
distance of your own front door.
