It also benefits from a modern swimming pool and sports complex, a tennis club with six hard courts, a cable-car, a spacious day nursery and a children's activity club.<br> <br> There are still a number of farmers in Vaujany using traditional methods and our chalets in La Villette enjoy the daily comings and goings of goats and cows.<br> <br> The village enjoys superb views of the wooded valley below and the snowy mountain tops above stretching to 3,500 metres.<br> Vaujany offers the combination of a genuine French alpine village with world class skiing in winter and a truly wonderful relaxing mountain break in summer.<br> <br> We offer chalet, hotel and self catering holiday accommodation during the summer months.<br> <br> Our chalets are all extremely comfortable and the standard of the cuisine and staff are kept very high. <br> <br> The Hotel Rissiou is managed exclusively by us and provides both good location and a friendly atmosphere, with the benefit of restaurant standard dining and an extensive wine list. </p> <p><br> Walking</p> <p>You can wander through the surrounding meadows and woodland, take a walk to Enversin for lunch, hop on the cable car to visit the lakes or scramble up mountain paths for views of distant valleys. A waterfall or stream is never far and wild flowers are all around.</p> <p>Mountaineering</p> <p>There are some excellent local peaks including the Rissiou (2,622m), the Etendard (3,464m) and Belledonne (2,926m). Slightly further afield (1 hour) the Parc des Ecrins offers some famous mountains such as the Meije (3,982m) and the Ecrin (4,102m) and the climbing centres of La Grave and La Berarde are well worth a visit. There is a cosy mountain hut locally at 2,300m and a whole series of strategically placed huts in the Parc des Ecrins. You are advised to take a mountain guide with you. TennisSituated amongst the meadows just above the hamlet of La Villette and surrounded by breathtaking scenery there is a superb tennis club with six hard courts, playground, restaurant/bar and sun-terrace.</p> <p>Cycling & Mountain Biking</p> <p>Cycling aficionados will be drawn by the proximity of the famous climb to Alpe d'Huez and nearby cols such as Galibier, Lautaret and Croix de Fer. There are some exciting mountain-bike routes including the descent from Pic Blanc (3,300m) to Allemont (750m) using the cable-car for the ascent!</p> <p>Rafting</p> <p>About thirty minutes away between Venosc and St Christophe (both worth a visit) is the rafting and canoeing centre 'Veneon eaux vives' offering some thrilling outings on the river accompanied by experienced instructors. Tel: 04 76 80 23 99.</p> <p>Parapenting</p> <p>The parapente school, based beside the tennis club just above La Villette, offers breathtaking tandem flights from 2,000m or 2,800m and beginners' courses by arrangement.</p> <p>Vaujany offers a marvelous programme of supervised activities for children at a very modest cost.<br> <br> Monday - Friday <br> 8:45 - 12:00 and 13:45 - 18:00<br> <br> Les Poussins 6-8 yrs<br> Les Petits Durs 9-12 yrs<br> Les Cracks 13-16 yrs<br> <br> The children are often taken up to the tennis club for tennis tuition, archery, ping-pong and mountain biking. All the activities are adapted to the particular age group. Once a week there is an all-day outing with a picnic, the older children starting off with the cable-car and walking back to Vaujany from Alpette.<br> <br> The clubs also make good use of the swimming pool/sports complex and the artificial climbing wall.<br> Vaujany has a friendly day-nursery for the youngsters situated near to the cable-car station in Vaujany and extremely good value.<br> <br> Children 6 months - 6 years <br> <br> July - August 9:00 - 18:00 open all week<br> <br> The nursery is purpose-built having three separate playrooms,<br> a dormitory for the babies, a terrace, a ball-park and TV room. <br> <br> The children are cared for by the French staff and well occupied with painting/drawing sessions and general play. They will typically be taken for a walk each morning, weather permitting, and the older ones go to the swimming-pool twice a week.
