Experience Ski Peak Holidays

“Where are you skiing this season?” “You wouldn’t have heard of it,” came the reply, “a wonderful small village in the French Alps with big skiing”.

It’s amazing how often this dinner party chat results in two people discovering they are both Vaujany enthusiasts. ‘It’s a small world’ springs to mind of course, and recently Ian Morley told me of an extraordinary coincidence. His good friend Paul, who has been to Vaujany a few times with Ski Peak, was travelling in Australia when he dropped into the local photographic shop. The conversation soon turned to skiing and the owner turned out to be Joris Roell, erstwhile chef supremo of Chalet Lucette a few years ago - the one who was helicoptered off the Sarenne after falling on his ski stick!

Recent dire predictions from scientists

The Independent featured an article recently predicting the demise of lower alpine resorts over the next 50 years, particularly in Austria and Switzerland, due to global warming. Fortunately, Vaujany, whilst a genuine alpine village, is nevertheless extremely well equipped with snow cannons and major lifts giving access to skiing from 3300 metres to 1100 metres. It is this potent and direct access to a world class skiing area that makes Vaujany a unique small ski resort and worthy of the ‘Which? Good Skiing Guide’ award of ‘ Best Small Resort 2002’.

Ski Tip

Keep your hands in front of your hips and your head up. Don’t allow your hands to swing round behind you as your weight will then move on to the back of your skis and you’ll lose control!
